Over the summer I was planning to start a video review website. Something with a similar format to That Guy With The Glasses but consisting of me and a few of my close friends reviewing whatever the hell we wanted. Eventually, that plan fell through. People moved away, school work took up…
Regarding Face The Day, their songs sounded really mediocre and generic because they were all songs that they wrote when they were about fourteen or fifteen. I used to live in Goose Bay when they played there, and the last time I saw them was probably 2006/2007, maybe even earlier. All the guys in that band are about 25 or so now. The only reason they opened for PTH is because the drummer and bassist are friends with Rawkhard and all of PTH, it was more just a fuckaround thing to do than anything and reliving old times. It’s also the reason Articuno opened for them last year, as the two guys from FTD I mentioned are in that band as well. Thought Articuno was a much more serious project, the songs are so old in both bands that it’d be like if PTH got on stage and played all ACUOS songs, like they were written so long ago it’s not even an indication of their musicianship anymore. Actually the material I heard that Articuno wrote before they went on hiatus or whatever they did was really fucking good, like Fortress level technicality. Their vocalist Ben spent three days on the ferry coming down from Labrador writing, and came out with some awesome stuff. If I ever get a hold of the Guitar Pro files I’ll send some along so you can see what you think. Also as a side note Over The Top is probably one of the best bands I’ve heard in the whole pop-punk/hardcore/easycore scene, not just in Newfoundland but overall. They’re fucking awesome, in my opinion at least.
Finally, the Donovan guy you mentioned, is that Donovan Campbell? Cause I thought I recognized him at the show but he looks so different than he did when I saw him last maybe four or five years ago.
